SkyTrackPro — XC Rules & Limits

FAI-aligned scoring. Clear eligibility. Privacy-first platform. Fast and fair rankings.

Eligibility

  • Open to paraglider pilots with a valid SkyTrackPro account.
  • Flights must comply with local laws, site rules, licensing and insurance.
  • Separate categories (e.g., Tandem / Motor) may be available when enabled.
FAI Compliance: SkyTrackPro adheres to the FAI Sporting Code (Paragliding). Organizer options must remain compatible with FAI definitions.

Season

A SkyTrackPro season runs from January 1 to December 31 (inclusive). Flights count for the season in which they were flown.

Upload & Deadlines

  • DeadlineUpload your IGC within 7 days of the flight date (late uploads are not ranked).
  • Minimum distance for ranking: 5 km (organizations may set higher).
  • Unlimited uploads; only your best flights count toward season totals.

File, Storage & Format Limits

  • Max file size: 30 MB per IGC.
  • Allowed extensions: .igc
  • Accepted MIME types: text/plain, application/octet-stream
  • Storage root (relative): skytrack
  • Stats sampling cap: 2000 samples written to stats JSON.
  • Encoded map polyline: max 500 points.
  • IGC must have an intact G-record (signature) where available.

Terrain & Elevation (AGL)

Elevation features may be enabled to compute AGL and profiles (in-house provider only; no third-party tracking).

  • Elevation: enabled (provider: inhouse, backup: opentopodata; datasets: srtm30m, srtm90m, etopo1; interpolation: cubic)
  • Resample spacing: 80 m; cache quantize ≈ 0.001–0.0015°
  • Batching limits: max queries 3000, batch size 80, parallel 10, timeout 9000 ms
  • Smoothed ground line (window 7); write AGL into stats when available.

Scoring Model (FAI-Compatible)

Flight Type Definition Points / km
Open Distance (≤3 TPs) Optimized open distance using up to three turnpoints. 1.0
Flat Triangle / Out-and-Back Closed circuit meeting closure tolerance; relaxed leg balance. 1.2
FAI Triangle Each leg ≥ 28% of total; stricter closure tolerance. 1.4
  • Triangle closure: start–finish gap ≤ 20% (Flat) / ≤ 10% (FAI).
  • FAI leg balance: each leg ≥ 28% of total triangle distance.
  • Auto-best: system chooses the flight type that yields the highest score; display rounding to 2 decimals.

XC Analysis & Geometry

  • Simplification tolerance: 250 m; max simplified points: 1200.
  • Open distance (best 2 points), Free 3TP (max 3 TPs, chronological, anchored at start & finish).
  • Flat & FAI triangles: floating start/finish, closure and leg-ratio rules as above.

Track Cleaning & Sanity Filter

  • Hard speed cap: 120 m/s; soft speed threshold: 45 m/s.
  • Single jump drop if segment > 1500 m.
  • Skip if removing a point reduces distance > vs keeping it.
  • Max time gap between fixes: 90 s (allowing segment breaks / noise trimming).
  • Up to 2 cleaning passes.

Competition Participation Recognition

Our automatic process tries to find the competition task associated with your flight, this are the rules we apply.

Launch Proximity
  • Min radius: 400 m; Max radius: 1200 m.
  • Relative to SSS: up to 30% of SSS radius when applicable.
Start & Intent
  • Start buffer: +60 s tolerance for first valid crossing.
  • Intent window: 120 s after start; corridor width: ±1200 m.
  • Minimum progress toward TP2: 2000 m OR 3% of SSS→TP2 distance OR ≥ 30 s within the corridor.

Categories & Classes

  • Open (all EN/CCC)
  • Serial (≤ EN-D)
  • Sport (≤ EN-C)
  • Standard (≤ EN-B)

Verification & Anti-Cheating

  • Automated validation: IGC integrity, continuity and anomaly checks.
  • Manual review may be requested; keep your original files available for 30 days.
  • Any manipulation (splicing, synthetic points, artificial drift removal) leads to disqualification.

Ranking & Tie-Breaks

Overall score: Sum of a pilot’s best 10 flights within the season (Jan 1 → Dec 31).
  • Unlimited submissions; the system counts your top 10.
  • Tie-break order: (1) highest single flight score; (2) next highest; (3) earliest upload time of the top flight.
  • Teams/Clubs (optional): per-organization rules may sum top N pilots.

Safety & Pilot Conduct

  • Safety first: SkyTrackPro does not replace pilot judgment or local guidance.
  • Carry appropriate equipment and respect local regulations & airspace.
  • Report issues constructively; organizers may mediate disputes.
